Shey Copse Riding Centre Services
Lessons We run a range of private and group lessons, throughout the week and weekends at Shey Copse. We have horses, ponies and instructors to suit all levels of rider, from the complete beginners to advanced riders training for exams. All our group lessons are limited to six riders per session, graded by ability. This means that all riders will get the attention they need to improve.
Riding for the disabled We are proud to be a base for the Rocking Horse RDA who ride with us on a Saturday afternoon. If you would like to find out more about this wonderful charity or become a volunteer, please contact Janet Challis on 0845 450 6734.
Hacking We offer group hacking on the estate around Shey Copse Riding Centre.
The Pony Club Shey Copse Riding Centre is a centre member of The Pony Club, the national training organisation for young riders. If you join through us, you do not need to own your own pony. We run monthly pony care sessions and training days where you can work towards The Pony Club achievement badges and ridden awards.
Own-A-Pony courses Why not join us for a day or a week of your school holidays to find out what owning a Shey Copse pony is really like? You will get to ride in a lesson and a hack, learn to muck out, tack up, untack, clean tack, plait your pony, feed and water your pony and generally have a wonderful time getting very grubby! Every Friday is gymkhana day with either jumping or games events where you will compete for rosettes or medals to take home and show off.
Pony parties Have you ever thought about celebrating your birthday or other special occasion with the ponies at Shey Copse Riding Centre? You will get an hours ride of your choice - hacking, a lesson or gymkhana games - followed by a picnic either at the yard or in the woods weather permitting.
Horse Owners Certificates and BHS exams We offer training and courses for any riders who wish to take these exams. Contact the yard for more information and availability.
Organised trips We organise a number of trips to interesting horsey events throughout the year. These include Olympia, Horse of the Year Show and various demonstrations at nearby venues such as Merrist Wood.
Picnic rides Come along for a nice relaxing hack to a countryside picnic spot and back again.
Newsletters Our monthly newsletter about forthcomming events and recent happenings at the yard is available from the office. It will soon be available online as well... watch this space!
Corporate events We can organise anything from an hour to a whole day of riding and horse care. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
