At Shey Copse Riding Centre we grade our riders and our groups so we can be sure that everybody in the group is working at the same level and towards the same goals. We ask new clients to grade themselves or book a half hour private assesment lesson so that we can grade you.

Here is a brief description of our grading system:

Level Six (Purple) Complete beginners or very nervous riders ranging to those who can walk and trot unaided in the sandschool.

Level Five (Pink) Riders who can walk and trot (rising) unaided in the sandschool and on hacks, to those who are learning to canter in the school but who may still be fairly wobbly.

Level Four (Green) Riders who can walk, trot and canter confidently in the school and out on hacks.

Level Three (Yellow) Riders who can walk, trot and canter confidently in the school and out on hacks. Riders in this group are also beginning to learn to jump.

Level Two (Blue) Riders who can walk, trot, canter and jump up to 2ft confidently.

Level One (Red) Riders who can walk, trot, canter and jump confidently in the school, out hacking and on the crosscountry course.

Once you know what level you are at, please contact us to find out what lessons are available to you. We also offer private lessons to riders at all levels. Check out our prices page for more information.
