Snip's Diary June 2009 Snip portrait

Hello everyone, it's been lovely and hot these last couple of days. I've been in the mood for summer holidays lazing in the field eating lots of lovely grass.

However, the RDA have had other plans for me and have been begging me to come in from the field to look after a few special riders on a Saturday afternoon. Now, I do enjoy these little outings, but I don't think that some of them appreciate how hot it can be jogging about in a fur coat. So over the past few weeks I decided to show them exactly how much fun it can be...

The first and simplest thing to try was of course to run away when Janet came to catch me so that she'd have to run too. It works particularly well if you stay just out of reach rather than running away to the other side of the field. That way your persuer doesn't give up too quickly. After a while I realised that I was getting hot and sweaty too so the following week I tried a different approach. I managed to sneak in from the field as part of a returning hack and very subtley went and hid in the hay barn. The advantages of this being that you can hide for a very long time without going hungry.

Next week I think I might take a leaf out of Star's book and go to the field incognito.

See you all soon, although you might not see me...
